The Problem

In high-volume coffee shops (handling 500+ orders per shift), the traditional paper ticket system creates chaos for baristas.

  • Lost Orders: Paper tickets easily get wet, torn, or lost during rush hours, leading to missing drinks and bad customer experiences.

  • Cognitive Overload: Baristas have to manually scan and count multiple tickets to group similar drinks together (e.g., steaming milk for 4 Lattes at once). This mental math slows down the workflow and causes high stress.

  • Inventory Blind Spots: It is impossible to track ingredients like milk or coffee beans during a busy shift. Sudden stock-outs interrupt the service, and end-of-shift inventory counting takes too much time.

The Solution

To solve these pain points, the BDS includes two connected screens designed for speed and accuracy:

  • Clear Visual Hierarchy: The UI uses Dark Mode to reduce eye strain. High-contrast colors (neon green and yellow) highlight the order status and custom notes (like "LESS ICE" or "SOY MILK"), making them easy to read from a distance.

  • Smart Station Batching: Instead of manual counting, the system automatically groups similar items together (e.g., "x4 Espresso shots"). This removes mental math and speeds up the preparation process.

  • Real-time Inventory Sync: When a barista clicks "Ready" on an order, the system updates the inventory automatically. The "Low Stock Alert" warns the staff before ingredients run out, making end-of-shift counting much faster.

1. Smart Order Cards We use Dark Mode to reduce eye strain for baristas working long hours. High-contrast colors (neon green and yellow) help them quickly catch the order number and waiting time. Special requests like "LESS ICE" or "SOY MILK" are highlighted with tags to prevent missing details. The large "Ready" button provides a clear touch target during rush hours.

2. Auto Station Batching During peak times, baristas don't have time to count multiple tickets. This core feature automatically groups similar drinks together (e.g., 4 Espresso shots). By combining clear icons with total numbers, it removes mental math and significantly speeds up the preparation workflow.

3. Real-Time Inventory Alert When a drink is marked as "Ready", the system updates the stock level immediately. The "Low Stock Alert" uses red progress bars to warn staff when ingredients are running low. This proactive design helps managers refill on time without interrupting the service flow.

If the BDS screen focuses on serving speed, the Inventory Dashboard ensures the workflow never stops. Connected directly to the ordering system, this screen provides a real-time overview of all ingredients. It is designed to help managers prevent sudden stock-outs and make the daily refill process as fast as possible.

1. Visual Stock Health Tracking Instead of reading long lists of numbers, managers can see the "health" of the inventory through donut charts. The UI uses color alerts (Green, Yellow, Red) to highlight critical items. This helps the team identify low-stock products like Matcha Powder or Soy Milk in just one second.

2. Dual-Location Management The system tracks stock at both the "Bar Counter" and the "Warehouse" on the same line. This distinction is vital for high-volume shops. It helps staff be proactive by moving ingredients from the main warehouse to the bar station before the rush hour begins.

3. One-Click Refill System To save time during busy shifts, the "Refill By Unit" feature allows managers to transfer items with just a few clicks. The system automatically handles unit conversions (e.g., from boxes to bottles) and updates both stock levels instantly, removing the need for manual paperwork.
